Victorian Bakelite Black Mourning Cameo Necklace

Gorgeous and rare black hand carved and molded celluloid mourning cameo necklace.  The main pendant is obviously hand carved, either the mold was hand carved or the piece itself as the deep carved details on the sides are asymmetrical and different lengths and deepnesses, whereas a machine would be symmetric and fairly perfect. The main diamond shaped ornate base pendant measures 3.25” / 82mm.

On top of the base pendant is a smooth oval layer (1.75” /45mm) and the molded and detailed female cameo with feathers in her hair.  The cameo style dates it to c.1915-1920 by the hairstyle on the cameo.  Pendant hangs by a brass O ring on a matching black celluloid chain.  Metal spring ring clasp and O rings make a secure closure.  No damage or condition issues.  No hallmarks found.
